August 2nd, Special Ward Fast for Our Youth: Dear PDS Ward Members, the Bishopric and Young Women's Presidency invite you to join in a special fast on Sunday, August 2nd for the youth of our ward as they start the new school year. Our hope is that they feel the support and love of the Savior, through our members, as we take this and other opportunities to encourage our youth and unite in our love of the Lord, while acknowledging and pleading for His hand in the lives of our youth. Thank you for your faithfulness!
Saturday, August 8th, Stake Youth Cove Night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Youth should be dropped off and picked up directly at The Cove and there will be snacks and treats provided! This activity is for all youth age 12 to 18, including those turning 12 this year. Come ready to swim and have a great time!
Sunday, September 6, 2026, NEW Second Hour Schedule Changes take effect. We're excited about these changes! Here's a quick information summary:
• 60-minute sacrament meeting
• 5-minute transition
• 25-minute Sunday School (adults and youth)
• 5-minute transition
• 25-minute quorum / class meeting (Elders Quorum, Relief Society, Young Women, Aaronic Priesthood quorums)
• Primary continues weekly at 55 minutes
No more alternating weeks — every class meets every Sunday.
CURRICULUM
• Sunday School: Continues with Come, Follow Me — For Home and Church
• Elders Quorum & Relief Society: Continues with most recent general conference messages
• Young Women & Aaronic Priesthood quorums: NEW curriculum — the updated For the Strength of Youth: A Guide for Making Choices. 12 chapters, one per month, supported by the For the Strength of Youth magazine starting with the September 2026 issue. Physical copies are being shipped to units automatically — no need to order them.
KEY DATES
• Fifth Sunday, August 30, 2026: Dedicated to preparation and discussion with youth, parents, and leaders. Video instruction from the Church will be provided in advance to watch during this class time.
• Sunday, September 6, 2026: Additional preparation/discussion during the second hour, then the new schedule begins.
A FEW THINGS WORTH REINFORCING
• Lessons need to start promptly — 25 minutes goes fast.
• Transitions should be brief. Most social conversation can happen before or after church.
• Quorums and classes will no longer counsel together about a specific topic prior to lessons.

Saturday, September 12: OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU! SAVE THE DATE for the Sierra Vista Stake 9/11 Day of Service. Projects and sign-up information will be announced at a later date.
Parents of Primary-age children: We are learning the Articles of Faith and are encouraging the children to memorize them. Your home is the most effective place for memorization to happen. Those children who memorize the Articles of Faith will receive a prize for their efforts. Thank you for your help and support with this!
First and Third Wednesdays of each month: Primary Girls' Activities at 6:00 p.m.

Ward Roster Pictures: Brothers and Sisters, we are trying to update everyone's pictures and information on Member Tools. We feel this is very important for helping all of us to better fulfill our callings, as well as ministering and fellowshipping. If you have the ability to do it yourself, please get this done as soon as possible. If you do not have the ability to do this, or do not have the time or desire, then we are here to help you.
Youth Protection Training: Instructors of children and youth, please remember to complete Youth Protection training. It takes less than 20 minutes and is available at https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/callings/safety/protecting-children-and-youth . Use your Church Login.
